## Email body

Hi loves,

A quick heads up: starting **August 1**, I'm updating my pricing for the first time in over two years.

The new rates reflect where I am at fifteen years in, the demand the studio is currently holding, and the kind of care I want to keep giving you every visit. I'm not changing how I work — just catching the pricing up to it.

**What it means for you:**

- Any appointment booked **before August 1** honors the current price — even if the appointment itself is later in the year.
- Any appointment booked **on or after August 1** is at the new rate.
- Your existing future bookings stay exactly where they are.

The full updated list is below. If you have questions about how this affects your next appointment, hit reply and I'll walk you through it. No pressure, no rush.

**New pricing (effective August 1):**

- All-Over Color (2 hr) — **$350**
- Mini Color (2 hr) — **$430**
- Lived-In Partial (2.5 hr) — **$500**
- Lived-In Full (3 hr) — **$550**
- Gloss (1 hr) — **$250**
- Women's Cut (1 hr) — **$215**
- Extensions — communicated individually at consultation

**One more thing:** I've been quietly working on the next chapter of the studio — including bringing on my first assistant so I can keep growing the kind of work you trust me with. I'll share more about that soon. But know that whatever changes you see this fall are in service of the studio getting better, not bigger.

Thank you for being here. Always.

Jen

## Notes for Jen before you send

- **Subject line:** my pick is *"Studio update — new pricing effective August 1."* Direct. Honest. The right person opens it knowing what to expect.
- **Send time:** between 10–11am Tuesday or Wednesday for best open rate. Avoid Mondays and Fridays.
- **From name:** "Jen" or "Jen at Hair By Jen" — not "noreply" or just the business name. The personal feel matters.
- **Tool:** if you use Mailchimp, Flodesk, or any email platform, bold the headers and use the bullet formatting above. If you're sending from Gmail, copy the markdown above — it'll convert most of the formatting on paste.
- **Sending list:** EVERYONE on your client list EXCEPT the 3-4 long-timers being grandfathered. They get the personal message a day or two before this goes out.
- **Don't BCC anywhere where recipients can see each other.** Each client should feel like she's the only one getting this.
- **Schedule change is NOT in this email** — that's intentional. The Tue-Wed-Thu shift gets handled at the rebooking conversation. The 4 Friday-only clients get personal outreach about it that same week.
- **The "fall" line is the tease** — it gives a soft heads-up without committing to specifics. By the time anyone asks, you'll have the assistant search post live and the answer is "I'm hiring."
- **Don't add an apology.** No "I know this is hard," no "I'm sorry to share." Confidence reads better than explanation. The "I haven't raised in over two years and I'm catching up" line is all the justification anyone needs.

## After it sends

- Krista vets any replies that come in asking unusual questions before you respond.
- If anyone tries to negotiate, the line is: *"I appreciate you, and the new rate stands. If you'd like to grab a few appointments before August 1, I'd love to fit you in."* Then move on.
- Expect a small number of clients to drop off. That's the function of a price raise — not a bug. The ones who stay are the ones who value what you do.
